Marketing Internship

Prerequisite: In order to be eligible for the internship, students must have earned at least a B average or better in Marketing. The student must maintain employment throughout the semester. This internship must be taken in conjunction with another marketing course every semester taken

 Students who have completed the Marketing course are eligible to participate in the marketing internship program for one to three class periods a day. Those who sign up for one class period must work an average of 10 hours per week and will earn ½ credit per semester. If enrolled in two class periods, the student must work an average of 20 hours per week and will earn 1 credit per semester. For those students who enroll in three class periods of internship, the student must work an average of 30 hours per week and will earn 1 ½ credits per semester. This internship must be taken in conjunction with another marketing program course which could include Advanced Marketing; Retail Marketing;Entrepreneurship; Hospitality, Travel and Tourism; and Fashion Marketing. Some internships may receive pay from an employer where others do not. Students must have reliable transportation, signed parent permission, approval from the intern’s employer, as well as instructor approval. Jobs must be aligned in the marketing or retailing fields.

Recommendation: Proficient computer skills and membership in DECA is required, Multimedia, Graphic Arts

Students who complete two or more credit hours in Internship, along with a Marketing class, will take Workplace Readiness Technical Skills Attainment (TSA) exam.
